AND WOW my car starts easily now. No more of that sad pathetic cranking, its just boom and away :) its nearly comical how quickly it fires up now. Funny thing though, the RAC guy noticed that the old battery was a 350amp, said it was much too small, and having a small battery does damage to the starter motor, is this correct? i replaced it with a 540amp in any case.

The RAC guy is right. Depending on the cranking time involved heat can build up in the starter motor windings eventualy breaking down the insulation and causing the starter to burn out. It on really happens in exrtaordinary cases where the car wont start and people just keep cranking until the battery dies. In anycase i would be too worried as your starter is working fine now with a proper rated battery. :D

yeah cranking a car for long periods of time cant be good, but i have a dead battery and yet my car still starts first time every time lol, just dont listen to the radio more than 5 minutes without the car running
