hey guys
my car is a 91 ea 3.9 cfi with 4 speed elec auto
have put in a
ef motor using a el ecu have smart lock bypass in kept bbm manifold
my real worry is that I might have used wrong loom I have used a 89 mpfi loom the thing with that is the car was old three speed auto so hasent got pin ins for four speed auto I have wired the three pin plug from my ea to the tps on ef motor so auto should still get info but will el ecu still work properly without getting auto info??
as have gone to start car but starter motor sounds like its jamming allmost like theres not enough charge allthough have charged battery but havent checked how many volts present
Fuel pump dosent make any sound either even when I plug old one in boot nothing happens but can get fuel sender reading ie: full empty readings
does any one have any ideas where to check next have I used wrong loom??
am slightly frusrated have left car in time out for 2 weeks but time now to try and sort it outcheers for any help mike

hmm sounds like a bit of a mess... so what parts of the loom is EA CFI and whats EL? what i would have done is do the conversion for MPI using your CFI loom, THEN added the BBM in and used the EL ecu on the CFI loom plug. then simply added the 2 thermo wires and BBM switch wire.

another problem is you have an el (dizzy )ecu on a coil pack motor so unless you have gone to the effort of swappin it to dizzy she aint gonna work, also i dont think the 3spd wiring will work with a 4spd box best of luck mate

have swapped coil pack to multipoint dizzy
the only part of loom changed is from ecu to motor and that came of the 89 mpfi ea fairmont the only problem I see with it is it was three speed auto and pin ins on ecu dont have the wires to run 4speed auto will the ecu still function properly without these inputs ??
Im thinking that I might try and source ecu loom of eb multi point just to know ecu will be getting all inputs
any other ideas fellas

probally best to get a 4spd loom as im not 100% sure but i dont think the ecu will read the 4 gear overdrive to go with rpm

yeah change the loom. remember to get the dash loom too as there is a few styles of loom and they dont match up.

or what might be easier is to buy a EA from ebay for like 200 bucks and stip the loom from that, it will also give you spares to sell off to recoup some money
