i was wondering if anyone has had there heard "shaved" as well as a bit of porting on an ef/el? is it worth doing? i would imagine that it would boost compression and therefore run better if you got the car put on gas?

also i know this isnt the gas forum but can anyone recomend a came that would be suitable to gas and petrol? as when i get my gas done in a few months i am looking at spending some of the rebate mony on mods

any input would be appreciated

I have a fair bit of porting and general headwork done to mine and yes u will notice the difference! Can get expensive depending on what u got done but well worth it for sure!!

As for ya came i would be hitting up wade or crow and see what they recommend!?

I had 0.030" taken off a brand new, stock EF head. Runs fine on Unleaded and LPG.. makes really good power for a completely stock EF Wagon. The last dyno day it was at, it pulled better figures than some cars with extractors, exhaust and even some with cams!

What cost are you looking at to get a bit shaved off the head?

That's fairly alright hey... so $200ish to get a cam and head shaved? Cams make much of a different with an auto? Dude down at Sprint Auto Parts said it would do next to nothing. I'm very new to the whole head work thing.

Anywhere between $400 and $700. Cost my bro $500 just to get his reconditioned. Recond. ones are on eBay for anywhere upto $700+post. Which is ridiculous considering you can now buy a long EF motor for about that price.
