About to torque up my head bolts, I know the sequence but how many Nm do I torque them to?

ef gasket
1st stage:40Nm
2nd stage:further 90degrees

Au gasket
1st stage:30Nm
2nd stage:further 120degrees

oh o

i hav an au gasket and i looked at my el book and it sed 40 then another 90, so i took em to 40, but i havnt done the 90 yet. What should I do??

Leave them at 40 and go a further 110 degrees is what I would do....bout all you can do. :? 8-)

cause uve already added an extra 10nm torque to the bolt...so instead of takin it 30-120 u will take it 40-110...hopefully it will end up around the same tension

no not exactly, but seeing u tightened it up to 40 nm i wouldnt tighen it the 120 degrees...a bit less so 100-110 should be fine...know wat we mean?

So the AU 1s r meant to be tighter than the non AU ones? Cos i was thinkin that since I did it to 40 then maybe another 90 would b wat i needed, but i will try 100 degrees. Thanks

AU Steel Shim Head Gasket

Stage 1 40nm
Stage 2 80nm
Stage 3 110nm

as per JMM specs
