just wondering what is the advantage of using an au headgasket on an ef/el.
Do you need to use the au bolts as well, as from what i have heard, you need to modify the au bolts to fit the ef rocker gear.
also will it last longer or is it better in some other way.
If the original lasts around 160-200k how much longer will the au gasket last and won't my motor probably be stuffed by around 300-350k anyway? :?

AU gasket is considered a FIX to the head gasket issue.
YES new bolts
Yes they foul up with the rocker gear (grind the bolt heads or the rocker gear)

do a search, they're heaps of threads!

I get that it is considered a fix, but how much more of a fix is it than a standard ef gasket that lasted around 180k.

as far as I know, if you get an el gasket from ford, they just give you an AU one, its a replacement now.
