hey guys, just got my eb looked at, and its got a leaky head gasket, anyhow, the thought of 1700, for a job i can do at around 150 ish, is a bit daunting, i was just wondering if anyone had any good technical documents on replacin the head gasket in the 4l engine, any help appreciated, and tricks that make the job easier.

cheers Greg

there's one document on fordforums.com.au about it.

Its a straight forward job that you can do yourself as long as you don't stuff anything else up!

thanks champ ;), if only a car engine was as simple as my 2 stroke motorbike engine, took 30 mins to do the head in that, easy as pie

You'll need about 6 hours to pull the head off and another 6 hours to put it back on. Add one more hour to clean the block and there you go!

The gregory's manual is pretty useless, just pull the manifolds off, then the power steering pump, then the rocker cover, then the valvetrain, then the cam and then the head.

Voila!
