a set of good extractors would probably get your time down to a flat 16sec.

You will need a set of extractors before you even think about getting headwork or cam installed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

that was going to happen any way so i didnt think to say anything

i'm looking for a round 160 - 170rwkw
with 4 grand in play

These are pretty good numbers to get and this sort of engine will be NO good with an auto. You do have an auto don't you?
exhaust, cam, chip and headwork will see these numbers OK $k do it yourself fitting possible but the cam to produce these numbers will be s**t with an auto so add in extra for a conversion or a hi stall converter at a minimum and a better ratio and LSD centre for the diff to be able yo use this sort of power. Now think of $10k and save up to buy an AU XR8 which wil have this power at the back wheels and the chassis to match!

the chassis is the same..

and i think you are missing the point with all this. there is no fun in buying an AUXR8 to get the power, it's boring and any d***head could buy one. you would only end up modifying the XR8 anyway. who cares what the peak power ends up being, as long you have fun getting there

i just finished putting a 3.45lsd into my ef fairmont and it made quite a noticeable difference off the line, my only other mod it a alted stage 1, still running stock exhaust and intake and it goes heaps better. The diff is deffinately worth the money.

hey. i just got my car back from getting head work done. i got the ports opened up heaps. intake were stone ground and exhaust polished. and a bit of valve work which made the valve seats close to the tip of the valve to increase flow. i also have a wade 1636. and just like extractors and zorstr and intake. i made 150rwkw. the thing bloody hammers!! give windford engineering in scoresby a call. they did the work for me for 1200 including reco the head and changing gasket.

its performance stage 4 fully rebuilt engine..
stage 5 billet cam
unichip 5spd
3.45 lsd
no name extractors 2.5 inch exhaust
this combo stil has much more potential as is stil loosening up at only 7000km old n a slight mis under part throttle at 2500rpm.. (coil pack mayby) but has been dynoed already at 162 rwkws...

yeah as brett said. That was pretty much the jist of it. Once i get it all dynoed and tuned etc im gonna put up a comparison thread of what options there are, but best time was 14.7 I was extremely happy with the way it went; especially since jim c/mock HEAD ONLY price is like 5 grand where i spent a little less than that which included all new accessories such as water pump, all gaskets etc.

the 1200 was including labour. nah i didnt get a before and after. i never had any idea how much power the thing had. they are opposite the entrance pretty much to the caribbean gardens market. but back a bit near fort knox storage. there is a mobil servo and there is a complex in there with, tyre power, kick start auto elecs etc.
