Well most the coolant will leak out, its located on the bottom heater hose, it just a matter of vaccuum line off, hose off each end and new one in, vacuum line back on, re-fill coolant.

You can do it from the top if you like (just get used to swearing), but the bottom is far simpler and easier.

Ive had mine go on my old I6 and my current v8.
The I6 is a much easier job from under the car, if you cant do it n you really cbf, goto a mech, they dont charge much n it really is a b**ch to do from above IMHO.
The v8's heater tap is located infront of the passenger side windscreen wiper, just go down, watch where all the hoses are going and you will see them come to a plastic T piece, this is it = just take all the pipes off, make sur eu watch what goes where and then put them onto the new Tap.
Make sure the vaccume line is on properly!
This is an IDEAL time to do a coolant flush as you will lose a LOT of it doing this job anyway.
Fill with coolant, do the new coolant procedure as in the manual, cant rem it now, something ike run car for 10min with heater off then on.. dunno, have a read.

Cheers -

Ah, GOOD idea!
This would be usefull if you dont need new coolant and havnt lost a huge amount already from the faulty tap.
Thanks for the idea.

Although mine is a 6 I think the same will apply to you. I had mine go and I gave up trying on the side of the road, I bought a brass ferrule and bypassed the heater till I could get it home, up on the ramps and its a 5 minute job. In mine the heater hose that connects to the tap let go and when it went it poured water over the coil pack ( Mines on Gas as well) so I had to replace all my plastic intake as well :x
Cheers
