Just brought a bf xr6

my problem is
i spent hours trying to find the throttle cable and still cant find it so i took the air intake off and got someone to push the throttle down the door opens and makes a weird noise when it does but still cant see the throttle cable.

im also new to this car so why does it drink so much fuel like only 355km's per tank thats bugger all compaired to the EL and that driving 1 hours everymorning to work which i was getting aleast 450km's + outta the EL

The DOHC sixes (BA-FG) have electronic throttles. There is a motor on the side of the throttle body that opens and closes the butterfly. There is no mechanical link between the accellerator pedal and the throttle, it's all controlled by the ECU.

s**t...that fuel economy is even worse than mine was.

How many litres are being used, 60L?

You'd think that with technical advances in the past decade that the fuel economy should be heaps better, not worse.

You might be getting some really dodgy fuel.

I really don't know why that is so bad. It's weird.

LOL Falcon96kickass.

drop it in for a major service. guys like ultratune and midas will change the obvious parts that's causing the high fuel consumption. get them to do a 4 wheel alignment and balance as well.
also look into what type of fuel you're using.

My fuel economy is around 10.5 to 11.8 litres per 100kms at any given time, and its a lot heavier with tools and s**t.

It's the old classic I think you will find the oxygen sensor is stuffed on the exhaust manifold. Shouldn't cost more than $75 at Bursons or Repco

My BF XR6 in 6 speed manual is using 11.8L/100 curently, and i know i can get it better than that. Previous owner had it running at 14.5 on dash. I have the feeling they didn't use overdrive much.

Sounds pretty normal if you spend alot of your time hammering it in the traffic light drags.

Its a lot heavier car to get moving than the EL's ever were.

I've had BA's where I only got 250ish from the tank. Compared to a best of 450 in the last BF2 I had when I was in Perth in April. That spent alot of time in 1st gear too, even on freeways. So I was quite surprised.
