Hi Guys,

I have a ef i6 auto which runs idles rought and hesitates and jerks for few a minute or so when cold in the mornings then it goes away when the car warms up!

I can tell u the car had sat around for 3 months before i bought it and it ran like s**t so the ford dealer repalced the fuel filter and told to fill up with premium to rid the tank of stale fuel.

Any suggestions guys??? i thought it maybe the injectors but if it was it would do it hot and cold.

change your leads, plugs, will fix most problems.

could be your oxygen sensor in that case.

Sounds like it is running lean when cold but stioch when warm. This would mean that the cold start enrichment is not functioning. I would check/replace the coolant temp sensor and the Air intake temp sensor. If these are failing then the ECU doesn't realise the car is cold and so doesn't use the cold fuel maps.

cheers
Scott

AIT under the throttle body, coolant temp sensor on the thermostat housing. Check/change both these.

But it definitely sounds as though the ECU is not going into cold start mode. The ECU wont read from the O2 sensor for 60+ seconds and should run from the cold start maps. Now these might be a separate map or a multiplier of the standard maps, I don't know. But it will mean you are running real lean on initial startup.

cheers
Scott

im having a cold start problem with the ef, it idles 600rpm on cold start up and then once its warmed up its ok, just wondering if im not getting the cold start enrichment either. ive replaced the oxy sensor but when i had the old one in i was getting a lean reading on cold start up but a rich reading when at operating temp. ive checked AIT sensor and the CT sensor, they seem ok but i think there a bit off, dont know if this would make much difference and also both power wires for the sensors are giving 4.6v instead of 5v, so just wondering if the combination of all this is the cause of my problem.
