remove it, and re-tap the end.

So my best bet would be to get a new bolt in the morning, and try and put it in straight and maybe it will work its way into the good thread? And would a bolt joint sell this size bolt?

mate the thread is f**k........ dont keep screwing around with it or you could run into more serious probs, get it retapped & new bolt to suit

there are a few ways to recover from a partially cross threaded blind hole.

use something like a scriber to scrape clean the damaged thread (your aiming to remove any loose bits of damaged thread) if the thread is mostly stripped out (and not just all mangled and in the way) you will probably be able to get a new bolt in - seat it carefully and by hand making sure its starting right WD40 or similar helps and ONLY tighten up with tools when your sure its gone in right (youll know if its gone in wrong because it will be going in p****d).

You can also probably run a tap into the hole to clean the thread up - but if you start it wrong youll make things worse and end up needing to drill it out and tap a size or two larger

if this fails and only the first turn or two are f**k you can CAREFULLY drill the damaged thread out then insert the bolt (you can also f**k up and make things worse here (see above)

or do as everyone else has stated and skip straight to re drilling and tapping

Ok so should i take it somewhere to do it because i really dont wanna make things worse.. on the bolt its only the first 2 threads that are f**k, and i will have to trailer the car somewhere wich is a pain? And also the problem that cuased all this was that i couldnt get the balancer right back it was so tight how do you get them back ive got the rad out but condensors in the way to giv it a good hit?

clean all mating surfaces good and proper to get rid of all rust etc apply WD40 to the mating surface of the crank, set the oven up to around 100 deg (dont wanna go higher just in case you damage the rubber between the inner and outer bits) put it in for 45 mins to an hour then don your gloves, work fast and it should slip on to the crank

If you cant get a tap, get another bolt and chamfer down the end neatly, and angle grind a groove right down the side. this will clean any swarf / bad threads in the crank.

Then get a longer bolt, place the balancer on and get most of the thread in, tighten it up so the balancer moves in, then remove the longer version and replace with the original bolt.
