Hey boys and girls, EL Xr6 started tappn all of a sudden, no over revving or anything, just idleing it was. Pulled tappet cover off and one of the rockers/tapets had got play in it (see picture). when u push down on the dot in the middle its got a few mm play in it where all others don't. Is this normal?

If not, what can i do about it, if it is, anything else i can check?

Cheers

Did you have each cylinder at TDC when you checked them?

yeah i turned it over a little to check the tension on all the others and they were all fine/the same compared to this one, still loose as a goose. The cam seems alright, no grooves or wear, im guessing its either the spring or something in between the rocker and the valve spring, is it adjusted or anything?

the holes in the top of the rockers, what are they for? can something be adjusted or is it an oil hole?

just looking through the workshop manual, the little do-dad, which i now know is called the "lash adjuster", seems to be resting on top of the vavle. when u push down the rocker the lash goes back up into the rocker where as the rest of the rockets dont move. can it be a blocked hole in the rocker not letting oil in to make the lash stay firm?????

the lash adjusters are held in by little plastic retainer clips that are pretty prone to breaking, go to repco or somewhere similar and ask for a set of lash adjuster retainer clips take the lash adjuster out put new retainer clip on u will probably notice the one on there is broken, slip it back in and bob's ure uncle should stop ticking
