i have a 1990 ford fairlane but the key to the ignition wont turn whats going wrong

I find that if you slowly pull the key outwards while gently trying to turn and then releasing, there is a spot where it will turn and work. Time for a new barrel though?

steering lock? move the steering wheel from side to side a little bit. I new someone that called racv because they couldn't get the key to turn and that was the reason lol.

thanks for the help lol i have it all worked out now and the doors all do unclock when u use the key but now i have to fix the eletric windowns cos some go down but not up and the left hand back one doesnt go down or up
