dont get me wrong for a mild engine it's prolly not a bad option.
but i personly dont think a port job is worth it unless it's full house.

true, but i reckon if you're gonna upgrade to the xr6 head, and the basic head is gonna cost you 500 bikkies or so, then reconditioning, and shaving 20 thou or so off as well, the extra 400 or so dollars could be worth it for the valves, porting and heavy duty valve springs, particularly if your planning to go to a lumpy cam at a later date
