Hi guys. The trip computer in my ed Fairmont is reporting that im using 20 litres per 100 km for pure city driving. I am fairly heavy with my foot, but it still seems abnormally high. How accurate are these trip computers? What should i be expecting for city driving even with a heavy foot 90% of the time?

As im working on the car i dont drive it much (just to the train station 4k's away and back) and it generally has less than a quater of a tank of fuel in it and i just put 10 bucks in it here and there so havnt really been able to test it with a full tank of gas.

Is this a realistic fuel consuption? or could there be a problem with the engine/fuel system or just a faulty trip computer?

Cheers.

Thats pretty much it, take away the heavy foot you can expect around 16.

Also too, is that the engine doesn't get that hot in 4 k's of driving, then sits all day, then 4 k's back home.
How often do you change your engine oil?????.....every 6mths or 5,000 k's, which ever comes first??

a few things that will improve that;

the thermostat might be buggered and not heating, kinda irrelivant anyway as it such a short trip, important still.
O2 sensor might be a little buggered. dont know if ED's run a preheated one or not?

i did a combine(ish) week in Melb on premium and got about 550k's odd from the tank. not too bad i thought

ECU will still be running the car in cold start after 4 km's as well, Cold start works by running a richer mixture until the car warms up to. that will also account for some of the ordinary consumption, Biggest culprit is gonna be your heavy footed approach to driving.

Notice I said Culprit and not problem. Heavy footed driving is not a problem, I condone it, as long as you obey the posted rules.

Holy s**t, thats alot.

Tried resetting the ECU?

That wouldnt do anything. Have an aftermarket ECU. Its fairly modified tho, so i shouldnt complain.

Man thats awsome fuel consumption for a supercharged car, makes u want to do it as it will eventually pay itself off hahaha

This will get alot of people thinking lol

I currently get 16.25L per 100kms from my EF XR6 sedan Sydney city driving, should i reset my ecu or is it ok for a 144,xxx car???
