it could be missing. if you've done the balancer and it's still there. the motor could be internally f**k. as in bottom end bearings rooted. the old 3.9 i pull out of my EB did it

Wouldnt it happen more frequently if bearings are rooted?

not exactly. could just have excessive clearances in the bottom so it only rears it's head when revved hard. like my old 3.9 did

May have resolved this issue, changed coil pack to a 15,000 km old one from my old car and changed leads also. Next I'll be doing plugs.

Has anyone else had this issue? Or have heard of it before?

Is there a rough idle? If not then you can rule out mounts ;)

Nah no rough idle apart from a slight miss...

And you have checked the leads right?

When i was working in a garage, we had the same prob but on a commodore. Found out one of the leads was sitting on the zorst and shorting to the zorst
