well, the title pretty much says it all... just wondering if anyone can give me some suggestions on how to get EF XR wheel lock nuts off without the key, I am of course keyless thanks to the good people at Maroubra Beurepairs who believe it is good practice to put the lock nut key in the air gun...

I use to use vice grips or a cold chisel with a hammer when I lost the lock nut key to my cars!

Just find a socket that will fit over them, litely tap it on with a hammer if need be, us a breaker bar or something similar and it should come off pretty easy.

Lock nuts are not a secure thing to save your wheels, just make it a "little" bit hard for would be theives.

get decent size socket slightly smaller then needed to fit, hammer the sucker on then remove the lock nut :)

take ti back to the tyre shop and tell the f**k that you want them to remove the lock nuts and to supply you with a new set of locknuts

they caused the problem, they rectify the problem, pure and simple

Exactly, I wouldnt have left the shop without a nice new set of lock nuts on my wheels at their expense.

Exact same thing happened to me, even though the key was fairly well used, they still replaced them without complaining.

A tyre place split my lock nut open with the air gun. They told me it was on the way out and wasn't their fault. I could see the teeth where almost stripped bare, so I just left it at that. It was a lock nut for AUII Tickford 17" rims.

I had to get another one ordered from Ford. They are manufactured in SA, and took 2 weeks to get to me. Not to mention it cost about $50.

I had a factory set on my AU XR that the teeth stripped off the key. $22 and a few days later I had a new key.....

I would take it back to the Beurepairs, the thing is I only noticed about 3 weeks ago and I got the tyres changed last December, but that was the last time the lock nut key was used, and I had used it alright before that...

Could be difficult then.

Maybe go back to them and make a deal. They take the old ones off for nothing and u buy a new set off them or something seeing as u need a set anyway.

tell the s**t at " Maroubra Beurepairs " to fix the problem that they caused you as it is there fault . . . .
they pay for all required repairs needed if they damage the rims , thats what i would be doing
