I am trying to change the timing on my 6 cylinder XH Longreach manual ute. Can any body help me out as to how this is done. Any help is much appreciated.

what engine is in it. why do u want to change it, u might find its coil pack so u can change it unless u chip it

Nope, all XH's run dizzies, so it's a standard issue base timing adjustment.

advance (most probably) for some more sting on premium or possibly retard (but you'd prolly be a retard to do this :shock: )

i'd also like to know because i wanna do it to my EB I6 which would be much the same as the XH (i kno its an EF or EL motor)

Isn't it more an ED motor? It maybe an EF/EL motor but it doesn't have a BBM. Only the XR6 XH2's do from memory

You can advance base timing.
From memory you gotta earth a terminal in the test port, idle will rise, then it's just a matter of loosening your dizzy cap and turning the right way (counter clockwise for advance?)
You will need a friend to hold the timing light for you.
Trying to get your hand down to the dizzy while checking timing at the same time would be hard.
