It could be. Might be the heater tap which is also in that area.

I just replaced 3 heater hoses on Monday night on the EL 6cyl. What a prick of a job.

You need car ramps or car stands and have to work underneath it.

I replaced the straight hose from the thermostat metal pipe to heater tap, the s pipe that goes from the heater tap to the heater core in the firewall and a really little 5inch hose which bypasses the heater tap.

If the hoses are original you will need a stanly knife to slit the hoses because they will not pull off. The quick release collars are an absolute prick aswell.

The hardest part is getting the hoses of the heater core in the firewall. Due to the BBM i had to manourve the brake lines and map sensor and vacumme lines to even be able to get my hand in there.

cheers...........

i now have a feeling that it may be the heater tap or connecting metal hose! (mentioned above) after having a good look back the it looks to be coming from something metal! how much will this cost me to repair?

if it's the long metal one that wraps around the engine (water pump to heater tap) it's a pain to remove and refit. with my old xr6, i couldn't get it to fit without removing the head or dropping the mounts so i cut it just after the back of the head (inlet side) and flared the ends a bit and put the correct size heater hose in between with hose clamps.
that particular metal pipe only cost me 38 bucks from ford.
