hey all, im driving an EL 6 and she is really boggy off the line but when it picks up revs it takes off pretty quick. basically stock with a 2.5" inch sports exhaust and a K&N panel filter. anybody have any ideas on how i could get her takin off faster?

or you can go to a auto/tranny shop, if you want to stay auto tell them you want 4.11 diff gears,
or
if you want to go manual get a conversion, ask for a ea t5.

whats the 4.11 diff like doing say 100. would ya use more fuel?

Yeah you use more fuel the engine revs higher. lok at either 3.45's or 3.7's both are a pretty good compromise behind the Auto box. wakes it up a bit round town and doesn't do almost 3000rpm @110km'h.

3.45's were factory in xr's and option(?) in ef fairy's and standard in el fairy's came with LSD's too. can be had for a vouple of hundred second hand off this site and plenty of others. 3.45's will have you about 2200rpm @ 110km/h.

I know I will be corrected where I am wrong. 3.45's are a good all rounder without being silly about it.

But without changing your gearbox ratio's you will always have that monumentally long 1st gear in the slush box.

EL GLi & Futura Auto's got the 3.08 diff

EL Fairmont and Station Wagons got the 3.23 Diff

El XR6 and EL GHIA got the 3.45 diff.

dude take it from me, 4.11 will give you no worse economy then what you are getting now.
you wont even notice a significant difference going upto 3.45

yeah i spose, cos at the higher revs the pedal doesnt have to be down as much pullin 100.

You want to rocket off the line but still have good fuel econ...

go 3.9's, mine revs at 2200-2250rpm at 100k's and takes off very hard
