I got told at a panel beaters that if you take out the back window you have to replace it with a new one because it can't be done without damaging it. I reckon they where full of it but... but i donno.. can anyone confirm this?

If you are going to take out the back windscreen you might aswell break it unless you can cut the glue and keep the seal in tact. Because there are no genuine or aftermarket seals available. The new windscreens come with them already attached.

If you remove the interior trims around the window its easy to get to the glue with a good flexible knife.

As for the rear quarters, theyre just glued on all the way around on two rubber tabs holding them in the door at the bottom.

windscreens obrien or similar. Cost is reasonable tippin around 80 bucks to remove the lot. They use a special cutter to slice the glue. can be done with a stanley knife... but you wouldn't, just one of those jobs.

I'd have to agree with the hammer method. Quickest and easiest.

I took out the 1/4 windows with a reasonably flexible serrated kitchen knife. It worked best out of everything else I tried, but it was still a pain in the bum.

I run a big panel shop in brisbane the ef rear a good fitter such as obrien or national will charge about 130to remove & replace the qtr glass in the back doors are about 70 each but 8/10 times the qtr glass will break as for the ute they will also do for around 130 out & in unless you have done this type of thing before you will break em the reason most people replace the rear on an ef is because they are what we call encaptulated which means the mould is made as part of the glass 90% of new cars are now like this hope this helps
