just trying to figure out if my EL XR6 is a hybird or not i guess this depends on the build date witch would be on my vin number right ? just cant find info on what the digits in my vin number stand for.

look at the build date.
IIRC is 98 some times? feb? build date is on the main tag where vin is

the parts in your vin that stand for year and month are numbers 11 & 12
i.e. mine is 6FPAAA JG WA RU 25538 the R is 1994 and the U is July

96dt stamped on the head or unpainted block means its a hybrid

Just been out for a look and it has an unpainted block and a build date of feb 98

no. Just that it's got the same rocker ratio as an au, so if you want to put a cam in it needs to be an au cam. I know crow has billets at the moment for just over $400 if that's what he's thinking

Wade also do the same cams for the EA-EL for the AU's aswell. Im running a 1502AU cam an it runs great, heaps of torque.

if your still seriously in doubt (as the XR's had different valves and ports etc) take the rocker cover off
if it has conical springs, its an AU head
