No all of them do. Mine rocker cover was painted black - like the regular ones. The ONLY way to be sure is the head part number.

Mine also got an AU paint colour. Again EL colours were still made to.

The other differences were phased in as the ELs were finalised.

The rocker covers were not "Black"...they were a dark grey colour, like the EF's. The hybrid engine rocker covers were not painted at all, just left aluminium colour as I mentioned before.

Mine most definitely was a hybrid, and was painted black/dark grey. Until I redid it body colour. Hybrid XR's still got a red rocker cover.

The other 'cost saving' measures were brought in as production ran down, they weren't all brought in at the same time as when they changed engine specs.

The late model EL's ended up getting AU spec heads.

A lot of the hybrids also got POV packed. With things going unpainted (engine block, rocker cover, engine bay)

The hybrid engine was pretty good for a stocker. Mine revved easier than E series I6's, but modding was a pain as the cams were AU spec, but AU performance cams didn't do all that much on the hybrids often running very poorly.

I ended up getting 150RWKW from mine with cam, intake, and exhaust mods.

No, has AU conrods and AU pistons. The pistons are shorter, and the rods are longer, has same pin size, same big end journal size.
The main bearing caps have ears on them for the later to come alloy sump for the side bolts. The Hybrid also has the crank main cap girdle too.

That is correct, same as a 93 ED has 91DA on the head, and a late 94 ED has 94DA on the head.

Late ED, EF & EFII, and EL, ELII are all the same. ELIII is the Hybrid.
