Does anyone know what the part number is for the AU series 1 head??

Is it the same as the hybrid head or is it different?

I don't see why an tricked up cam for an AU won't work.

Unfortunately I'm in the wrong city to test this s**t out. If I were in melb I'd be down at Wade and/or JMM until I got satisfaction.

My understanding is that the JMM cams work very well in AU engines.

Brendan tells me that their DEV3HL cam works great in an AU. From what I understand with these engines its getting the greatest lift available, rather than modifying the duration, as this causes the loss of vaccum.

So something that will give some more lift might do the job. Speak to JMM and see what they have to say. I know people say they are expensive, but considering their gear works well, they have obviously put alot of R&D time into their parts, so its worth the extra $$$.

Check this out:

http://www.crowcams.com.au/templates/Catalogue-Falcon6EA-AU-OHC.shtml

at the top of the second table:

Falcon, Fairlane, 4.0 Feb 98-02
Roller Hydraulic Lifter Camshafts (0.075" duration measured at valve) 1.8:1 Rocker Ratio

Feb 98 = hybrid EL :D
The hybrids were definately a 1.8:1 ratio too

Third cam down:
2232549
Mild performance cam EF-EL May need computer recalibration. Improved exhaust recommended.

Maybe theres a crow cam that can help us!!

e; I've emailed crow to see if that or any other of their cams are suitable as a performance drop in replacement or what mods are needed to run one properly i.e. chip+exhaust+extractors etc. I'll post their reply if I get one.

OK, I have a May 98 EL XR6 96DT so its a hybrid, even though the engine bay is white same as car.
What does this mean for standard servicing, ie spark plugs etc...anything?
Or do we just stick with EL XR6 plugs etc...?

Well, my Ford service place doesn't seem to know the difference between Hybrid's or not, so I guess they just use regular EL parts.

All Hybrids use the std EL tin sump and I believe do not have the crank girdle from the AU.

That change did not occur until the AU started production as the AU sub frame is different, to accomodate the alloy sump.
