Just replacing the lifters on my ef and i found that the aftermarket replacement lifters dont have an o-ring/bush on them near the top of the lifter like the old lifters do.
Ford say they arent meant to have a teflon o ring but i find it weird that the original ford lifters do have an o ring.
Any ideas?

Hi you can buy the packet of 12 HLA retainers (the little plastic type rings) from R+E auto parts and also Repco I bought them from R+E only a couple of months ago .
They didn't have them in stock but ordered them in . I picked them up next day. The part No. is LA591 and I am almost positive it is the same part no. for R+E and Repco. Price from memory was about $20. Hope this helps .
Cheers

Well ford are as helpful as a punch in the face, but i managed to find out that the lifters have plastic retainers which i have in my hand now(they look like o rings when they are worn out).
My next question is how do you fit the plastic retainers to the lifters without breaking them?
They dont look like the kind of plastic that stretches(was thinking of putting them in hot water to soften them up)and i didnt want to stuff them.
So if you have fitted the retainers to a set of lifters let me know how you did it 8-)
Cheers

How did you fit them, did you use hot water to soften them or did you just force them on.
Thanks man

Haha its all good now, the plastic is really flexible(i know now)
I got a picture in my head of how the retainers worked, going by the left over bits of plastic on the old lifters and that idea was wrong :?
Thanks for the help though.
