Gday iv had some badluck and someone working on my car has blown my engine up. Where can i get an AU engine from, is there a place other then the wreckers where i can get one from?

how did he blow it up mate ?
sorry to here about that to also would you have to change the sump on the au one or does it fit straight in the el

he was putting my camshaft in and the timing was setup wrong with the vernier gear or somthing and it bent a valve and went straight through no 1 piston and it aslo took the end of the sparkplug with it and has f**k the bore. So annoyed, my engine went so well also.

Have a look on ebay mate, you can pickup low mileage AU engines (111.000km's etc) for around $650 with a 3 month part warranty.
If that was a paid mechanic fitting it for you i would expect him to pay for and arrange the whole lot. Goodluck

Cheers thx, yeah it was just a bad error on his side and he has takin the blame and it looks like hes gonna do the right thing by me. I dont want to bad mouth the place just yet, as he is doing the right thing now and i dont have my car at the moment. I tell you how it all goes.

Damn, that sucks to hear Gezza. Give any wrecker a call. I'm sure there will be no doubt an AU engine lying about. If not Ebay or the trading post. If you really want you can always go to Fowles (or Fowels..however you spell it) auction and pick up a wrecked AU with extra bits and pieces.
BTW...next time tell them to crank the engine over by hand with no spark plugs or fuel...and see if she turns without problems and if they get stuck in rotating the engine, you know something is out of alignment. phong =P~

As said, ebay is a good place for them, and i heard that someone sells them with an already modded sump?? Andrew.

ok cheers, well the engine is getting rebuilt now and honed and bored out and im getting ACL pistons for it an new big end bearing. It may also need new conrods but they are going to get checked. hopefully the car will be nice when i get it back, probly wont be able to boot it for awhile as il hav to run it in.
I really didn't want a wrecked AU engine because i dont no the history of it, for all i no the engine might not of had an oil change for last 50,000-100,000k's

yeah all im paying for is 5 out of the 6 pistons nothing else. I dont know if i should get anything else done to the engine while its apart. Is there anything else i should check or get done to it?
The cam is also just an AU version of the EA-EL 1636 profile

mate if you want a AU engine try Grant Walker ford parts/ wreckers whatever they are, in bayswater i think.
they had Au engines for $300 last time i checked
