Hey guys ive bin playing with my i6 since ive had it seeing bang for buck. Would like to know whats working for you or what you wish you never wasted your money on.

So far i started with an auto GLi, i replaced the head with an ef XR6 head, slight port n polish nothing fancy, raised compression forget what the ratio was something like 10-sumfin instead of factory 9-sumfin.

Also has pacemaker extractors with full 2.5" exhuast, simple stuff like 10mm leads. Ect

The auto also gave in so its now a 5sp with heavy duty clutch and for traction i went with a lokka diff( needs attention)

But im wondering wat else i can do to bring simple power gains, and what works and what does not, im a current suspended license and wish to fix its issues whilst im not driving it.

Please give me an idea on where i should head with it next.

Why does the Lokka need attention? What is it doing?

lol yeh nah that noise is actually the gearbox. But nah the diff just yeh dont feel right few odd noises ill check it out as time goes on.

The gearbox has 2 stuffed syncros, and i think the bearings are half shot needs a rebuild had a hard life. Sure drags attention tho.

Next step at this stage is im gunna send it for a dyno tune, get it set up to run how its ment to. Not goin to worry about a cam at this stage seems to have strong response and hard acceleration.

I started to clean up just a few things in the interior and in the engine bay. Will not be the same car wen ive finished cleaning it up

But if i do the final drive would it make the car just a tad to much to control? Like ive had a few falcons in my time but this one is nuts as it is. I dont mind workin on the engine more giving it more power but changing the final drive will change everything from mileage usage- shorter gears- very hard acceleration giving it even less traction.

Im running 245/40/18s and they even struggle at times. I can drop the clutch in second gear and fry the treads.

Is the Lokka only making the racheting noises? Or other s**t? Mine is almost silent.

since when do you build a hotted up car and worry about fuel economy.

The diff just sounds like it has a bit of play,

Im not worried about fuel economy as such but running 98octane, all week long in a daily costing me on average nearly 200buks a week in fuel it soon adds up! Plus i do alot of highway driving.

Best bang for buck on any E-Series I6 is diff gears with a LSD/Lokka and an exhaust system!

Get a tight LSD/lokka and add 3.45s (maybe even 3.7s) for manual and 4.11 for auto with an 2.5" exhaust system with good extractors, will make the car perform extremely well for about a total of $1500 (possibly less) including fitting.

A Lokka will always have some backlash, but it is the closest legal thing to a spool

Nuthing wrong with the diff centre as such think its just axles will pull them out for inspection.

Been tidying up the engine bay over the last week, found and fixed 2 of my water leaks 1 being thermostat housing other being a crack in a heater hose.

Will give it a major service include some new plugs, then ill send it to get dyno tuned.

Was going to put my new intake setup on it first but id like to see on the dyno if it really makes much differance.
