Casper,

Didn't you get to keep the chip from the chip challenge. With all the promo you done for the chips I would have thought so?

No, I gave both chip back after it was finished. The whole chip challenge was just to inform people of what they actually could do, there was heaps of talk but no solid tests or numbers at the time.
After it was all done all the chips went back.
I then got all the JMM gear and did this run in Sept.

I then purchased a ChipTorque Chip in November last year as it was the one I felt was the better chip... even though it lost on points. That was after this run.

I've only been to the track once since then however it was Heathcote, it was a warm evening and we had a hell of a head wind. Best on the day was a 15.09 with the chip but, most importantly, it made a big difference to the launch. Best 60' was a 2.20 which was a huge improvement. Unfortunatly with the headwind and temp the elusive 14.xx didnt arrive. Made further changes since then and with the start of the cold weather I'm pretty sure the 14.xx is there for the taking.

I still need to take my car to the strip. It has the ITS Stage 3PS kit, 160rwkw. Goes like a dream, but no dyno figures yet or 1/4 mile times.
Waiting for the 5000km to tick over, it should be run in and settled by then.

Then its up for a manual conversion, Unichip, and a stage 4 cam!

Cant wait.

I looked at going all out with my VCT head, cam etc. For the price it wasnt going to give me a good result. So now I'm just going to go the supercharged route and be done with it. 200rwkw and a torque curve flatter than the simpson desert... yes please.

Ah, yes, but now that my VCT is naturally aspirated to 160rwkw, watch my power figures blow out when I go ahead with the turbo and or supercharger, eventually. After the manual conversion, chip, stage 4 cam etc..... I should have mentioned that before. Thats just the way I decided to go. Naturally aspirate as far as possible, then forced induction.

I think you need to take it to the 1/4 now... I need to compare it to my times. I'm nowhere near 160rwkw though so it would be interesting to see the difference.

I just checked out your dyno sheet on aufalcon.com. Your at 150rwkw, thats thats not far away from 160rwkw. I would imagine I could pull a low to mid 14 on the 1/4. We will just have to see.

Dyno numbers are just that, numbers. I dont take too much notice of them. I've seen my car put out anything from 135rwkw to 150rwkw. Different dynos, different days, different settings, different gears. Its not really worth comparing them to be honest. I'll stick to using the 1/4 as a more accruate guage.

As for an auto NA I6 running mid 14's, you would be the first that I've heard of. Fastest auto NA I6 I've come across is 14.84. Thats with some serious mods including intake, exhaust, diff, hi stall, unichip, cam etc. It is also the only auto NA I6 I know of that has gotten into the 14's at all. I'm sure there are more but they are a very rare breed.

I say take it to the track, give it you best shot and see what comes of it. Hopefully you'll get into the 14's and become the second I6 auto that I know of... I plan to get there soon myself.

Well, I hope to get there on April 9th at Heathcote. If not, I'll go to Calder which is always faster anyhow.
Either way, I'm just hopeing for any 14.xx time now... then it all gets supercharged and its a new ball game.

You really need to decide one way or another though otherwise you'll need to redo alot of stuff. The engine you have now is running pretty high compresion to get the power out of it. If you're going to turbo or supercharge you'd want a lower compression engine. Nothing half a dozen headgaskets won't fix I suppose :P

I agree, thats why I'm putting all engine work on hold now. No point doing it just to un do it all at more cost once the blower is on.

Shugg sure would like to see what an ITS modded I6 can do down the qtr.

I have spent time and money on my auto I6 wagon and so far 15.6 is all I can get. It did start off stock at 16.8 and believe it or not it. The Xr's with 3.45 diffs and less weight should go a far bit better.

let us all know how you go if you get on the track or see you at the Autotech Dyno Day 16th April!!!
