coz im learning somthing i dont no and.. i actually have some really decent arguments as to why V6 is s**t compared to the Inline lol i basicly want them coz im sick of his remarks about him saying all my au is good for is a taxi and that my inline 6 is slow compared to his ecotech blah blah blah

That can be fixed by a better diff ratio, and a histall convertor.
Then you might be able to stay with them off the line, if not leave them behind.
The Holdens have a way lower 1st in their auto's than a Falc.

Have a drag race where you stay in first, and see who wins :)

well dont be ashamed when people say that the falcon is only good for a taxi because it shows how reliable they really are..

ive seen alot of falcons with well over 300,000 kms and were running fine (probably had a head gasket change lol)..
and some taxi's clock up to 700,000kms.

and most commo v6's ive seen are pretty much on deaths door at about 300,000kms im not saying that they are all like that but this is what ive seen..

taxi drivers cant afford to have their cars broken down as they wont make any money. so obviously they need to be reliable. how many holden taxi's do you see now? (QLD there is almost none) and all our silver servise taxi's that i have ever seen are fairlanes.

go figure

as far as taxi's go, its nothing to do with which car is better but what manufacturer can give the best deal. s.a. has a large proportion of holden taxi's as they are made here and they are supporting their own. same with cops.

as for engine configuration, its pretty much been covered but at the end of the day you could find examples of each that are good. its a space saving thing and thats about it.

power/torque/refinement etc come from the bore and stroke dimensions and a compromise between pouring money into it and a good sale price.

This is old now but i'm still gonna write anyway.lol. Engine v engine The Falcons' got more power and loads more torque, but is let down with super tall gearing in the auto tranz. Best thing you could do is go for better diff gearing to overcome this disadvantage. eg. 3.9:1 gears would be good. the commy will no longer be a challenge. The Falcon 6 is aussie designed and built unlike the commo. I've been told by 2 taxi drivers that the buick in the Holden can't take much over 250,000 k's before self destructing.

1/20 are VZ commodores, even seen a couple of VX's still going around.

A majority are AU and BA falcons though. I've never seen a Falcon cop sedan in SA. Only wagons.

from stockstandard "Biggest problem with the AU engine is they stuck it in the ugliest car ever made"

ROFL!

i think the underlyin problem is that commonwhore drivers think that theres p.o.s 1938 buick 5.0ltr with 2 cylinders chopped off v6 is better than the all aussie designed and made i6 because they know absolutly s**t about cars, hence why they are drivin a holden in the first place :)

I don't know if I missed it, but don't falcon I6's also have slightly more displacement than a commo V6? Just a suggestion...

The V6 is better. produces more torque down low where it counds.

Just go grab a auto VN and a Auto EL 4L

The VN will absolutely punish the EL falcon off the mark and the falcon doesnt have the grunt topeg it back. V6 and lighter weight and better gearing equals heaps better performance.

The VT will slog the AU in a straight line. Those V6s are known to go for 300,000km without an oil change. The i6 gives up the ghost at about 150,000km. (new head gasket required)

Go the VT
