This is not Ford related, it's actually off a 1993 Hyundai X2 Exel Pannelvan (yes, Pannelvan...). It's been giving me some trouble after driving it for 5-8 minutes the 'Check Engine' light comes on and eventually the engine starts to cut out and that, won't do anything but idle really. Turn the car off for a minute or two and it all goes away and back to normal.
Anyways did a diagnostic test thing adn it gave me code 11 and 13, which I have looked up to be 'Oxy' and 'IAT'. Now I assume by 'OXY' it is ment the oxygen sensor, but what is 'IAT'? Intake Air Temperature sensor is what I've found by Googling 'IAT car part'. Were would I find it on the car (obviously in the air intake somewere I'm sure)? But only thing I can find is what looks to me to actually be a MAF sensor...?
Anyways, just trying to get this thing running properly as cheap as possiable as it's my sisters old car and want to flog it off, but I'm not dodgy enough to try while it's doing this problem.
Hmmmm... Maybe I should head to http://www.hyundaimods.com and ask them...

yeah, IAT is an Input Airt temperature sensor. Basically your looking for something that looks like a bolt with a connector on top (have a look at the ford thermostat housing for an idea). It should be on the inlet manifold, and normally they hide them well. So look everywhere for it, there should be two wires running two it (sometimes one, but who knows). Check the voltage through it, heat it up/cool it down, check to see if the resistance is changing, if it is, suspect wiring, or the sensors gone out of range.

Cheers

^ what he said!!

The IAT is found in a few different places... for example, an e-series V8 has it plumbed into the lower intake manifold IIRC - an AU V8 has it plumbed into the intake plumbing before the manifold.

So.. somewhere between the airbox and the intake valve of the engine... should look similar to a coolant temp sensor.

Might be able to find the specs for the IAT on the web if you want to check those resistance values as per dima's suggestion.

Ok, just looked it up and apparently the IAT is found on the air flow sensor.

like the toyotas.

They are built into the MAF... Not exactly replaceable without replacing the whole AFM on the 4AGEs for example.

But its unlikely its failed, the plug for it probably got dirty.. Just check it over.

Cheers

Yes, it's registered as a two seater van I think, has a pannel van sticker on the back too, or did I removed it couse it was a bit old and icky. Imagine a coupe with no back seats, a flat boot and a black metal cargo barrier between the boot and front seats. It's a peice of poo. Head gasket blew a few weeks ago, just finished fixing that, has the head checked new valve stem seals etc. before that had to do the timing belt couse it got to 200,000kms' (did the seals, tensioner and water pump at the same time). I just want to get this thing gone now! shockies are very very tired aswell, but no way any more moneys going to be spent on it!
