i just changed over the ignition barrell on my ef falcon and the car wont start at all. the smart lock light kept flashing so i think its got something to do with smart lock. i also noticed that the old barrell has two sets of wires coming out of it, one from the back and one from the side, whereas the new one (not actually new but from the wreckers) has only one set of wires coming out from the back.
i have kinda figured out that i need a barrell that has two sets of wires coming out. now the question is that do i have to change something else too when i get another barrell tommorow with two sets of wires ??

all help will be greatly appreciated.

thanks van man.
also i think i read it somewhere that you have to leave it for a while (an hour or so) after installing a replacement barrell for smart lock to get retrained.....so do i have to put the key in too when i leave it or just hook up the new barrell and leave it just like that ?

The smartlock learn process differs a little from EB thru to EL, earlier car's need 30mins with the key in the barrel & ignition in the "on" position, later car's apparently need longer.

I'm surprised the wrecker where you got the switch & barrel didn't ask you if your car was smartlock or not, as a non smartlock barrel won't start a smartlock car unless smartlock has been disabled.

Cheers
