Hey everyone, can i pick your brains for a sec..

Ive f**k the ignition timing and i dont have a timing light, cos ive just been making small manual adjustments, i had it perfect for a while and i dont remember where it went wrong, it was backfiring, so i retarded the timing. Then it had a very 'choppy' sounding exhaust note, so i've played with it and its better but its still choppy and lacking power, wont rev over 3k :) lol

So does it need advancing or retarding, if you can tell by the exhaust note being 'choppy'?

Thanks in advance :)

normally when I set by ear.. I wind it forward till the rev increase peaks and it starts sounding different, then I wind it back a few degrees from there.. but I've never tried an i6 like that.

buy a timing light.. even the cheapy ones will get you there and are about 20 bucks at supercrud.
