you should be able to take him - make sure you get a good start - stall it up, but no wheelspin...

Take out your spare tyre. Only have like a 1/4 tank petrol.
Definately stall it up as far as you can before you lose traction.

f**k I have 3.27 diff gears and the autos is a dog off the line, the 3.08 would suck big time.

Dunno about a dodgy road drag, but ETs would be very similar if both cars are in good tune... does it really matter if he beats you? he drives a holden so you have already won the "brains race" :D

to tell you the honous truth mate the shift kit is gonna do sweet F.A really... the VR's are quick off the line but they run out of puff real quick.

if it was a 5 litre thats a different story. at 120 they are just getting warmed up, they keep pulling, and pulling, and then they pull some more.

I'd say the holden will be ahead until he hits 3rd gear. his 3rd is similar to the falcon 3rd gear, and with the power advatage of the i6 (we're talking ~25kw and ~50nm) you'll catch then overtake him at those higher speeds.

As voxace said, take out all the weight you can - spare, jack, passengers (especially important!) and run with SFA fuel. Also unless you're racing on a dirt road (which would be STUPID) then take out your airfilter for the run too. Practise your launches before hand so you get the stalling up/take off perfect. If wheel spin is an issue (which it shouldnt be in stock auto with a 3.08!) and you want a bit of extra grip you could let your tyres down a bit too.

As the others have said you'll get munched down low but hopefully you'll come good up top.

To win you will need to keep the auto working hard.

Keep your foot firmly on the throttle the whole time, keep your shifts at the redline and manualy shift upwards.

Good luck and let us know how you go.

Your ED must have sucked. Ford for sure. My EF six beat VR's and VS's, and so did my mates EL.
They will have about a nose length on you until you hit second gear when you will kill him, gauranteed.
Just make sure you stall it up on the line and you will be fine.

Yeah like everyone is saying the VR's & VS's go fast of the line. But if you ditch the spare and go 1/4 fuel like everyone is saying. Then stick it in 3rd on the auto then just hit the throttle really quick when given the go signal. You should be able to keep up with him at 50km/h then you should just launch past him after that!
