Yeah I have this whine coming from top to rear of engine. I don't think it's pulleys as it started after the head gasket fix.

Has anyone experienced a pronounced whine after a head gasket.

My head was shaved and all bores cleaned out.

One think I did do wrong was accidentally over fill the oil by almost 2 1/2 litres. So 8L instead of 5.5L. And drove like that for a few days before releasing some.
Could that f**k anything up?

A whine?
You sure it's not coming from the front of the motor, as in timing chain?
What'd you do with the tensioner?

a whine or a hiss? Does it feel like you have lost power overall?

Might be the rocker gasket not on properly...may have slipped off leaving a small gap.

If not maybe exhaust manifold gasket might be the wrong way around and leaving a gap on the underside...I did that mistake :shock:

phong =P~

Yeah could be manifold gasket. Flares a little when starting. I'll test that with carby cleaner.
Definatelty a whine rather than hiss. You can hear is inside the cabin, changes up and down in pitch as it goes through the first couple of gears, then goes away after about 70kmh.

Rocker gasket does leak slightly at the front.
