Has anyone got some information on these engines.

I traded a wreck that was no good to me for a supposed EL hybrid engine and other parts, thou i have my doubts on wether it is one.

I am yet to put the engine in my car becuase it needs to be cleaned up from alot of openings not being tapped closed or clogged with a rag ect.

I guess what i would like to know is;

What exactly is an EL hybrid engine?

&

How can i be sure ive got one?(Part numbers?)

The head is WR2A 6090 AC
Timing Cover(i think thast what it is :?) 94DA 6059 AA
Cant find part number on the block or the sump?

Does anyone have the information or pictures to make a doco on using an AU BBM on an EL engine in a ED.

Any help would be great,

Regards,

Michael.

Hybrids have 96DA or 96DT on the head and VR2A on the block.

Where abouts on the block?

Exhaust side, Intake side, towards front or back?

This might mean ive been given an E series block, sump with AU head and rocker.

the head is au..
to check the block look on the exhaust side of the block where the suport bracket for the gearbox goes..(just above the sump)
it should have a number casting there...
from memory if its a hybrid it should have vr1 or vr2 or wr1..instead of the 94da/96da

From my understanding the hybrid engine is basically a cross between the EL and AU. It was introduced in the later EL's from memory and basically is just an AU head, cam, rocker gear etc bolted on to the EL block. Well something along those lines :)

I'll have to try and find it tomorrow as its become dark in the last 30min and do you think i can find a working torch, NO!

Au head so that means its not an EL hybrid engine then?

if its got the wr2 number on the head than its au..
the hybrid head still has the 96da/dt number but is pretty much the same as au..
if the engine came out of the persons nl you got it from? im pretty sure there car is pre hybrid..
it should have had a hybrid tickford head if it was a el ghia or nl ghia

Almost forgot about this drama,

Image

Does this mean ive got an E series motor with an AU head and (i think) an EL XR6 rocker cover.

Every part number i can find starts with 94DA, block, timing cover, random brackets and tensioners, H/balancer.

I think i might just sell the engine and buy a AU motor in better condition.
