G'day guys,

I'm just after a quick rundown on the replacement of a set of EL 6cyl injectors. I have a set of new ones here waiting to be installed...

Is there strict process I am meant to follow? Also, does the fuel rail have to come off or can the injectors be replaced with the rail still attached?

And to depressurise the fuel system - is that as simple as running the car, removing the fuel pump fuse while running until it stalls?

Regards

Pretty sure you have to remove the rail, I did. I was slack and just pulled the regulator off the back and let the fuel run out, no amazing pressures in play.

i did mine in the car. take out the 4? bolts, remove retainer clips, remove wiring plugs. take the injectors out and refit in reverse order. i never depressurised the rail, but its probably a good idea.

yeah its pretty easy, just make sure you have new rubber o-rings for them, remember you need to remove the TB too, and yeah, just unplug the fuel pump and run it for about 4 sec's and it will stall ... if you are finding it hard to hard the injectors back in, go and get your girl's lube (joking) LOL just some petroleum jelly

yep.. no need to remove the throttle body.. ive done it a few times aswell..
the only thing i had to remove was the vacuum tree at the rear of the manifold to get to the rear fuel rail bolt..

Confused as to why you suggest running the car with the fuel pump off? Any air in the rail will just be forced out an injector.. running it with the pump off will drain the lines as well, leaving more air in the system?

I read it wrong, I thought you were running the car with the pump off after installing the new injectors, not before, makes sense now, but it hasnt worried me the few I've done.
