Hey lads, Ive just fitted my new 3inch intake pipe along with a SS inductions snorkel, id like to know if I would be better off to remove the small funnel like pipe in the top of my EFs air box? would it be a restriction with my new setup?

Thanks boys.

Molloy

i was going to leave it for some one els.

I cut mine out, but if i wasn't so lazy and wasn't trying to sell the car i'd replace it with a 3 inch pipe of about the same length that was bell mouthed.

you could quit cheap and easy with some PVC pipe, a heat gun and something of the right shape to make the bell mouth

it helps, its just that it restrictive at the same time.

eveyr one uses them because ages ago there was a test on auto speed that shows a flow bench test between the EL and EF lids. both were very close with no filter but when a filter was fitted the EF one out flowed the EL one.

it was sugested it's because the tube draws from the center in the air box and not the side. It still only has about a 50mm opening, hence changing it to a 3 inch pipe would still draw from the center but not cause the restriction on the stock tube.

Not sure if anyone has tested it that way at all though.

it's all well and good to suggest all of this but will you notice a difference either way?
