G'day
Whilst having the Xr6 front and back wheel aligned today the guy doing the adjustment pointed out that even though I have a dual cat back system, that was on the car when i bought it, one of the pipes is blanked off at the back of the car. WTF?? I was wondering if this is a common thing? The car is an Au11 Xr6 Vct, and currenlty has the standard exhaust manifold, the cat back sysytem looks factory. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Most probally a cost thing to design a exahust multipurpose for a XR8 and XR6

My mates AU XR6 had the same thing. It puzzled me at first, but then i got over it. As said above, more than likely, the extra spot for the dual tips for the XR8.

Its to stop excess resonance in the exhaust system.

Hmm, well there you go. I learnt something today. It may have been at 10pm but thats something i didn't know.
I must admit, having that blockedoff makes the exhaust look weird as f**k when you're under it having a look. But then again, who really looks under a car all the time... |

That explains it. Well the car is due for a set of pacys so the blocked off unit might have to reconfigured for some use. Unusual installing a seperate muffler on the unused pipe though and running the pipe right to the rear of the car?
