Every now and then when i start my car it lockes up as if it has a hydralic lock. i am not losing any water though. what are some other reason this may be occurring ?

Chances are head gasket, you should pull the plugs and take a look.

I'd be more inclined to look at your starter, battery and charging system. If the car is cranking slowly and then seems to lock up i'd be investigating the electrical cause.

Hydraulicly locked motors are just that LOCKED. they won't turn at all and will bend rods and smash pistons before they will ever turn.

i had an ea before that had lock up. it was leakin water into first cylinder (no bent rods or f**k all. f**k head.) it always started with a thud but still started..my electrical is all ok. (new battrery and new starter.)
