hey team, done a search, and there's fk loads of threads on similar to this, but all appear to be resolved with a coil or dizzy replacement. My EA's problem is a little more..

Problem: Car won't start without 5min+ wait from previous run.

Ok my car wouldn't start as it had no spark, so we replaced coil with a BOSCH item, no spark, replaced dizzy with a RAE item, started ok. Turn engine off, won't start. Check coil, no spark. Replace coil again. Starts fine.

Call tech support AFI (australian fuel injection mob), they advise the aftermarket module in the RAE dizzy won't be compatible with the BOSCH coil. I suggest that both parts are designed for the same engine, they gotta work. Replace coil and dizzy with a KIT from ACA. Car want's to start 4+ times.. then engine won't start.

Leave ignition on for 5min, a click in the engine bay near coil, and fuel pump relay behind driver's headlight. Car starts?! With the coil and dizzy that it stopped on just before.. Stop engine, no start. Wait for click in engine bay 5min later, starts fine.

We set the base timing, and the fkn thing purrs like a kitten, could balance a full glass of water on the rocker cover!

The sum it up, we've replaced the coil, dizzy, leads (as one was arcing on the rocker cover). The car will start fine, then must wait 5min before it can start again.

Is it my ECU? I was thinking a cap inside it is busted, therefore taking a little while to charge before letting power go the coil, and fuel pump relay.

The mechanic working with me was Lube Mobile, and was a top honest bloke. Know's the problem is still sorta there, so didn't collect payment.

Can anyone relate to this exact issue?

check voltage at inj, I had the same problem and it was the relay that powered inj voltage and some other circuts......if I checked voltage it was at 5v and if I waited 5 mins and tried to start I had 12v at them.

Dunno just a guess

^^ Aha nice one dude, spot on. The fuel pump relay was crapped out as well tho. Yep both, as we had to bridge both to get it to tick over.

ECU relay was fkn heaps, so BS, could only get one from Ford.

So it was stuffed due to the 2 x relay's, plus the dizzy module was close to fried. Am now running all new parts in the ignition - ACA Coil & Dizzy, Bosch Leads.

She really hauls, I love the torque of this thing.
