Questions bugging me that is:

1. if constantly using sports mode auto to use engine braking to prolong the life of the s**t BA brakes, can this cause any harm to the engine/transmission over the long run?

2. Why is it so hard to spin the wheels in a BA? (not for hooning purposes as I do value my tires) Even stalling up the auto, you would be lucky to get a little chirp off the line. I was looking at the specs on my g/f barina, 1.3L, 49kw@6000 dif: 3.7:1. If I had those gears, would it make much of a difference?

um engine braking in an auto while probably ok id suggest u use ure brakes lol, i heard in earlir e series etc it wasnt good for the trans to back off gears but the ba/be is probably better designed for it.

3.7:1 gears will give you better acceleration but higher revs but the gears from the barina arent gonna fit ure car.

as for trying to spin em up yes not that easy in the BA wernt designed for that in models with traction control for some reason when u turn it off its spins em up well

The drive-by-wire probably limits throttle when 'attempting' to do a burnout.

What do you think your driving a truck? Gears are for going, not slowing.
Last time I looked it was alot cheaper and easier to replace brake pads than gearboxes.

Exactly, it cant be doing the box any favours, manual is a different story. Use your brakes, , get better pads, and its TYRES, not TIRES, THAT IS WHEN YOU ARE TIRED.

If you have a manual and use the gears to slow you down it actually puts wear on the clutch!!!
