The specs have not been made public. Some people around here do know but I doubt you will find anyone who wants to post them on a forum.

I asked them as well (was actually trying to buy a cam from them). I was told that "I wasnt smart enough to understand what all the numbers meant..."

anyway, more than one way to skin a cat :)

No one with half a brain (or a business!) is going to tell you (on a public forum) the Dev5 specs if they know them.

That was Jim. I am sure his lack of customer service has cost him a lot of $ over the last few years. Ive chatted with Brendon on the forums a couple of times and he seems like a good bloke.

Exactly right. Many people think JMM are being stupid by not telling customers what they are buying, but at the end of the day if they dont want the cam specs to be known then thats their decision and most people will respect that.

Yeah Brendan is pretty good, I know the few times I've been in there he's really friendly.

Not like JMM are the only guys that keep their specs secret either :P

Without knowing the cams specs, your best bet is to speak to people that have it.
Try find someone who is impartial
The few dev5 equipped cars I've been in have been very nice, in a manual they make for a very quick car.

Show me where you can get a cam ground to specs your provide for $100. The fact that Wade, Crow, Surecam, Tighe, RPD, etc, etc all give you specs should say something. Anybody who stands to make or save money by knowing the specs can trivially find them out anyway.

Everybody else gives specs because they help you to match a cam to an engine. JMM dont want you doing this because they want you to buy all the matching parts from them (head, exhaust etc). Its fair enough, but it does make it hard to judge how one of their cams will behave in a different engine.

take RPD off that list.

my new 977b came with a nice spec sheet, and only cost me $122.

They list the power output gains from their cams on their website if you want to know what sort of gain you will get from one.

They quote 146rwk with the DEV3HL package and mine made 149.2rwkw on a Tas dyno. Pretty close.

If you want to know what they are like, ask someone who has a DEV5. Mark (red ELXR6) has a DEV5 in his.

No one is disputing they make good cams downingj, you can stop defending them now :D
