1 out of 10 falcon blocks probably is shorter.

My JMM Dev3HL has never had a problem with timing chain slap.
Did Mock install your cam for you?

It's been said before, and I'll say it again, if you are willing to cough up the dough, you cant go wrong with Mock performance wise.

yeah Brendan dialled it in for me.
Don't get me wrong, i'm quite happy with the performance, it's just this crappy timing chain noise is a bit annoying.

He acts like an idiot, charges a lot but his stuff does work. End of the day you either put up with it or go else where.

My bro ran 14.4@99mph with a dev 5 cam on an AU, and that was untuned.

My advise is to buy springs and vernier gear from crow and go to JMM only for his cams or other products that are not offered by other places.

Where do you think JMM gets his springs from? He just puts his mark up on it to.. Like everything else..
Works like this.
Wholesale, -> Retail, -> JMM $$ Markup.

I am over the JMM s**t.. there is enough people on here who run his gear, 50% love him, 50% would like to see a big fat prisoner making love to him.

Personally, 50% possitive feedback about a business is s**t, would you buy from someone on ebay with a 50% rating and look at all the sales he still gets.

Go figure. Congrats to him for still pedaling the same gear year after year and charging more for it each year to.

Thats the business of making money not making cars go fast I am sorry to say. Cars are a by product of his business.

Shifty Dyno and proven results don’t go hand in hand.
He might have a 13.1 second NA i6, but what are all his customers running, mid to high 14 seconds. If you ask me something isn't adding up there...

With the comment "50% would like to see a big fat prisoner making love to him.", well I'd say over 50% would PAY to see that...

Anyway back on track, the timing chain noise is most likely been caused but the tensioner not been correctly set, I would check this before you start the car again. Also check the cam timing. If the chain has come loose and skipped a tooth on the cam gear the valves might have hit a piston and caused the rocker arm to break.

Good luck with it all.

I fitted a JMM cam about 5 years ago - it isn't exactly a catalogue item - described as "one we used in development - could be called a Dev 4 I guess" - clearly described as a regrind and I've had to put 3mm of shims in each lifter - tho I suspect not all of the lifters need equivalent shimming - the proper way to do it would be to do a flat lifter measurement on ALL the lifters individually and shim them EACH accordingly - I will get round to that one day. Anyhow, this cam has ROCKED since the day I put it in - tho it does need a Tickford ECU to run (won't idle on a std ECU).

As far as the story behind this thread I can see some specific points:

1. This JMM cam gave results promised - so no issue with the product, correct??.
2. It's the word of this second performance place that the cam is a regrind - the fact that it ran for ... how long? - with no noise and no shims indicates to me it probably is in fact a billet - something has happened since that has brought on the noise and then these clowns at the second performance place have ASSUMED it was down to a reground cam and f**k it all up royally in the process of trying to fix it.
3. Further to what I said above about the cam actually behaving like a billet - the biggest messup from JMM in all this is in taking the comment that the cam is actually a regrind as being true instead of standing up for themselves and pointing out that if they sold a billet then it bloody well was one - Jim and Brendan are nice guys and can tend to let themselves down in that respect a bit - and also they can tend to be a bit wishy-washy about what bits to actually put in - IMO they SHOULD have held fast in fitting the harder springs straight up as it really doesn't make a good impression to say on the one hand "you need these" then just turn back and say you don't need them after all. Places like Herrods will look at a customer like the idiot he is if he askes for a monster cam but knocks back the rest of the work that needs to go with it - but Jim and Brendan will tend to try and accomodate and leave themselves looking shabby when it turns sour later - that's a personal impression, not gospel.

ive got jmm stage 3 cam and it dose what it designed for very well no problems at all. as for his car running 13.1 1/4s its not all engine tunning that will give you that time, for the most part its chassis tunning that will also give you the most benifit. if you think you can put a big engine in and go as fast as a deadicated race car well as the movie said your dreaming.

I've got this awful noise when the car is at normal operating temp.
And yes i've got the dev3 hl cam installed.
I took it to jmm and they said it was the timing chain and that nothing could be done aboput it. "it's just one of those things that happens in 1 out of every 10 or so falcon engines"
F@#k!

Thats f**k s**t and they should fix it. 1 outa 10 seriously C**k smokers... thats like saying yea 1 out of 10 falcon blocks is shorter.

chain noise come from worn parts, when you fit a bigger cam you put more stress on the chain and guides, thats what bring the noise out. my RPD1 had chain noise with the old motor. After the rebuild no more noise.

JMM don't have to fix problems that pre exist in the engine

It's a brand new motor with all new parts including the chain and guides etc.
I had it checked out on saturday, and they say it's most likley the idle bearing. (not the timing chain)

i have alarm bells go off in my head when i hear about his 'accurate' dyno. how about the guy who had his car dyno'd on a jmm machine. 177 rwkw. okay fine, but 15.2 et? something doesnt add up. id rather go with a conservative dyno (read crescent motorsport), make 148rwkw and run a 14.2 thankyou very much......
