Hi all,

Im seriously looking into getting a lumpier cam for my baby. At the moment it only has a small torque cam.

I am going to either choose between a 977b re-grind or a DEV 5 billet CAM.

But which would perform better and last longer?

Cheers!

Dev5.
last longer doesn't really come into it, it's a cam.
regrind/billet doesn't matter, they will last forever.

ive experienced both, not in my car though..
977b bang for your buck, but if you can fork out the extra $$$ go the dev 5,
seen it make 170rwkw+ many times, has been around for ages and is a proven performer.

So DEV 5 it is.

Sorry, I didn't word it right. I didn't mean last longer, but more like, which am I most likely to not have as many problems with or things along those lines.

Does anyone have like a specs sheet for the DEV 5 CAM, and does anyone know if it will run with the stock ECU?

Cheers for the replies.

I have seen some good results with the 977b cam as well

Would be awesome to know the specs of the JMM Dev5 Cam so you could compare with the 977b Specs - i did email Mock if the DEV 5 Cam was better than a 977B cam and didn't really get an answer to my question - if i did this and this it would be but i wanted like for like

Is the JMM DEV 5 cam really Billet?

probably because it's a stupid question.
is a 1636 better then a 977B better then a 1521a better then a Dev3HL better then a Dev5 better then a Crow 'Stg2'?
depends on the combo and what you are doing with it.

Here is the answer i got - yes its all about what purpose your going to use it for - yes of course i gave a full description of the car ------

Baically i wanted to pull the 977b out - replace with JMM DEV 5 and retune and have a better 1/4 mile as is without any change to stall or diff - like for like comparison

I must say that they did answer my emials very quickly - impressed with that :)

Yeah try the DEV 5 I wanna see the results

I would like to see if we can get your car up and going a bit better than it is.

I can definitely suggest our 3000 rpm converter, it will work very well. I can also recommend the
dev5 cam and retune your J chip to get that right.

Drag times are not about all out power figures as you may have come to understand.

You need to get power from the start line all the way to the finish line.

I would also suggest the 3.9 diff ratio as it will suit what you are doing
.

jmm dont release specs about their cams.

and yes they are billet.

i can tell you now that the dev5 is much much much more suited to a manual than a auto,
so a highstall would be essential.
i can also vouch for their highstalls. very road friendly

Okay, So I'm going the DEV 5 Cam, the specs seem to be around the cam above the 977b, the 1521a, but a bit lumpier again.

The guy I'm buying it off (Will be second hand) says he has a specs sheet for the cam.

does Wade do billets if you ask them to?
JMM don't have a cam grinding machine in their workshop.
do the math suckers.

i don't know why you'd bother.

where are you getting Dev5 specs as "lumpier" then a 1521a?
i'd question the specs you are looking at...

Yeh I know who grinds them for JMM, but I was just saying that JMM cams that come in his kits and s**t are regrinds AFAIK, I spoke to them a while back and they said they were new, wouldnt say the word billets, but that they needed shimming... which = regrind.

I spoke with Mock yesterday and they said they don't do Billets as its too expensive...........

Although this may be they don't do it now and they did it before......

I asked Wade cams about a custom grind, as in a re-grind cam, and they couldn't get the LC I wanted.....so I'm looking at a Camtech cam now.....billet....but have to wait 4 to 6 weeks for their supply of billets to come in.....said they'd been waiting quite some time for them.
