Hey guys, as you know, I know jack all about engines, so I took these two pictures to ask you guys if what you see here should be a concern to me.

First one is that air filter (?) box on the right side, it always has this moisture on the top of it, something to worry about?
Image

Okay, and now these plug things on the right side of the engine. See the top and bottom ones look fine and dry, but the middle one has some moisture on it, what's the go there?
Image

Thanks lads, pardon engine-newbness.

Looks like some oil has dripped on those items when the oil level was last checked etc.,

looks like you have a leaking injector, might be spraying onto the airbox.

Yes they are your injectors, appears to be leaking. Whilst you have them out it would be a good oportunity to have them professionally cleaned. Most workshops provide new seals after cleaning. Price is around $20/injector if you remove them.

I dont think its fuel as a thin film of petrol like that will evaporate.

Thats exactly what i was thinking. Oh and till_lind, that longish pipe that has those stains on it, that is your fuel rail, and what it looks like is an oil type stain. looks like someone spilt oil on the fuel rail and cleaned it off, but it left a mark.
*somone is bound to correct me in my assumptions, but hey thats how you learn*

my guess is someone has spilt engine oil and not cleaned up when servicing. reason being is there's nothing else that high and round that area except for fuel (which would evapourate) and water (windscreen washers - which would steam up and evapourate).

Yeah do the scratch and sniff as mentioned, you'll probably find it better to degrease the area and check it every few days - leaks usually leave clues, so if there's one, stuff will come back, if not, obviously it was just spillage.

Has anyone seen the oil on the rocker cover!!!! its only oil and its amazing how far it can go with a bit of air from the fans.... besides if it was a leaky injector it would drip downwards not on top of the rail, not only that but u would surely smell fuel.

The bottom one is a concern, its the injector leaking. If correct then atomised petrol will be a fire hazard, particularly if you have bonnet insulation which is getting saturated with petrol. A side issue here is that while its not leaking petrol out its sucking air in, so it would not be running to flash at idle. The Airbox film if when you wipe it and it comes back may be a result of the injector leak but via the bonnet not directly. Anyway I would get it looked at quickly.
Cheers
TW.
