most here swing the way of the panel filter as its a straight fit in the air box and the flow characteristics between the two have virtualy no difference..

A panel is just soooo much more discrete, but if you want induction noise go the pod-just make sure it's actually ducted off though and isn't sucking hot air, or else it'll be slower than standard!

so the general concensis is that a protected pod is about same power as a good panel?

I would go the panel K&N. Have a look at the flow rate and consider the CFM of your motor and then its easy. they flow enough so there wouldnt be much restriction.

Probably comes down to cooler air, rather than pod vs Panel.

What about the hold under the airbox mod??

i have a K&N pod filter, i used to have a supercheap pod, the K&N was a noted step up from that.

hi-flo panel v's pod, who cares theres stuff all differance. As for intake noise i get none.

if thinking of a pod a nifty air-box mod to suit.
(did this ages ago, havnt seen one since, lots of people comment on how cool it looks :p )

pretty much straight to the point - pods r more illegal then panels, panels fit snug in the box, 2 minute mod and pods have been PROVEN no advantage

also no disadvantage either ;)

pods do have some leagal issues, from memory being oiled is a bad thing???, but if mounted right your fine. the police are some of the one's that have made comments on how the pod looks, and that idd taken the effrot to put it in properly, not just chucked it unsupported on the end of the intake pipe.

i paid $90 for mine at rice-o-bahn 3 weeks ago, cant remember the #no, box is in boot and its raining.

was just a 3" neck pod, i just got the biggest that would fit the lid, with the mount i had already made up for the lid.

heres my experience. the car is tuned for the bax why bother with a pid all it will do is suck hot air plus if it sucks water ur engine is gone....(bent rods) trust me ive seen it. it may look cool but it is more practical and less of a water worry to go the panel

the induction noise from a pod is pretty cool if your into that kind of stuff but panel is more subtle!
