Thanks to muzzas excellent diagnostic unit I've found I have knock sensor failure in my EF XR6.
Is it hard to change?
Do they cost much?

What is it doing to my car while it is not working?

Keep in mind I only use ultimate 98 fuel.

Cheers

Isnt removing the starter a pain in the proverbial?
Will have a go at it.
Thanks

i got to it from the front of the engine bay, under the manifold.
or atleast i got to the plug to unplug it.

i guess it depends how its failed.
i unplugged mine and the car was getting too much timing advance when the car was hot (detenation)

so i assume it could either be allowing loads of advance or retarding timing

I found it visually. I dont think starter needs to come out.
Mine doesnt look like its screwed in the whole way. I can see about 1 turn of thread.
I'll just take out the air box and get at it that way.

Cheers for the help guys.

yeh, thanks to timmeh for lettin me have a go.

its amazing how many codes we just made up and wrote down. when we went though a 2nd time, none were the same, and half the first codes didnt exist.

i ended up with

214 CMP Sensor Input failed - cam sensor isnt it? heard these arent important

129 NO MAP/MAF change in goose - i think i *may* have been a little slow in goosing the throttle. ive unplugged my MAP sensor before and the ran ran like crap so im guessin it works.

167 No Throttle Position Change in Goose - same as above, may have been a little slow. i think mine works, car accelerates fine, drops back fine etc.

521 PSP Failed open - power steering? if mine works did i f**k up this test aswell?

all in all, i suck at tests
