I just drained my oil n replaced the filter and put new magnatec 15w-40 in right.... but now my motors mate a knocking noise... like the lifters or some s**t.. its really s**t me and i dont want it to get worse.. ideas??

i would not use casterol use penrite 10w-50.how long was it from your last oil change .it might not like that oil ive found if i let my cars go over 3000ks between changes thay rattle for heaps?

well ive already put it in so its too late. i service it every 10.000 but let this one run out to 17,000 since my last service... i just dont want something to....break

well it aint going to stop rattling till you throw in some 20w-50 unless you replace all the HLA's

yeah your lifters are f**k, so a thicker oil conceals the noise a bit.

HLA - Hydraulic Lash Adjuster. Commonly referred to as lifters. And yes, going to a slightly thicker oil *should* help you out. I went from 20w-60 down to -50 with no problems, good oil pressure, but i think -40 would have stretched it

im usinga 15w-60 atm.. 1 HLA taps for a few minutes on a cold startups since putting a cam in. doesnt really bother me, goes away once oil gets up there.

next oil change im going down to a 15w-40. hopefully get the oil to the head and silence it abit quicker

im on 15-40 magnatek been using it for the last 4 oil changes bout 20,000k (5k intervals) but i also get a hla noise for a few seconds 2>3 on a 3' morning start.
