Just wondering peoples thoughts on this idea i had. get a nos kit and wire it up to a bottle of o2. the idea being that the expanding gas will be alot colder then ambiant and the atmospheareis 76% Nitrogen (inert) so about 3 times more bang. its not illegal either cause the EPA have stipulated that no NOS can be used. nothing said about bottled induction. the only thing you'd have to do is increase the fuel flow but as long as you followed the NOS instructions you'd be fine.

got the idea a few years ago in science. get a buncen burner and heat up a piece of steel wool till some of it is glowing red, then dump it in a jar full of oxygen and step back.

Any thoughts? Anyone game?

there is a reason nitrogen oxide is use and not oxygen.

the bang from injecting pure oxygen is just to big and to hot, you'd kill you engine

well its not going to be running on straight o2. Stick it on a dyno and find how open you need to have the valve on the bottle. or run a half pure shot

"diving oxygen" is air

actually diving gas is blended with helium to prevent the bends. its also full of argon, nitrogen and a few other goodies for the respitory system

Thats only for deep diving (nitrox). Normal diving gas is straight compressed air.

compressed atmospheric oxygen should really be no different to the air a turbo makes and forces through although a setup where you are taking as much air as throttle requires would be very costly, and if you were running that amount of compressed oxygen you would need a friggin heap of tanks to get a few hours out of it.

no no, running a very small shot of o2 inplace of NOS. there shouldn't be any presure difference, just a colder shot of something more combustable

The problem is the rate of combustion. The nitrogen in air slows down combustion making it a stable burn (this is a good thing). Depending how much o2 you add your probably going to turn the controlled burn in the engine into an uncontrolled explosion (this is a bad thing).

Bingo. Nitrogen provides two jobs in the combustion process.

(1) slowing down the flame front
(2) cooling the combustion

^^^like he said
would only be possible as a sustained release not as a shot because it is an unstable balance.
