Are EL i6 Falcons better than VS V6 commodores? or are we the ones dreamin?

The V6s in standard form are usually a bit quicker but make s**t torque down low. I think our cars are geared wrong and are a bit lardy. We should be killing them with that motor.

The Falcon motor is a much stronger motor. The VS is smoother.

Performance wise (from a standing start), both are very similar (manual for manual). For in gear acceleration, the Falcon FLOGS it!

If she's auto for auto, don't expect to catch the VS until you hit the 80 mark.

Thats if we catch them at all after 80km/h.

I love the falcons, but the commys just have a better following.

For example, I reckon my EL ghia is a better car than the VS calais equivalent. But people say to me the ghia is a grandpa car whereas the calais is cool

If we're just talking about I6 vs V6.
They are both pretty close in terms of performance, but the v6 just sounds so bad, and vibrates like buggery.

What a load of s**t! As if a Calais is cool

Whoever is saying this needs to get a grip mate :)

I wouldn't be too scared of a V6 Calais in your I6 Fairmont if I were you

Trust me, not only will you catch him at 80, but you'll take him too...

LOL.. yeah fords suck, let's all buy commodores.
Of course i'm just kidding. I actually like commodores though, and all my friends drive commodores, and i've owned a few commodores. I think they're great. But i also think falcons are better, which is why i own one.

I find that most people are like that.

People who have actually driven BOTH cars, prefer the Falcon.

Trust me, im rowing in unison with you guys on this one.

My mate has a VS Calais V6 Supercharged. He wants to get it on. You reckon with my mods as below Id have a shot at him. His is stock standard 165kw.

I dont want to bite off more than I can chew. I know those supercharged V6s go pretty hard.

Reckon the grandpa ghia can get him? If he wins ill never hear the end of it, vice versa. its an all or nothing thing.

Mate, with the mods you have, you should be able to dispense of a stock V6 Commie pretty easily.

As for a supercharged V6. You might get him. They are only a bee's C**k faster than an XR6...

Ive owned a VL Commodre - and thought it was a great car, but only cause it had a nissan motor! Always have followed Fords though.

Commodores might have the yob following, but Falcons have always had a touch of class (and the I6  ) Thats why I love my EL.

Although, lets admit it - build quality on both the Falcon and Crummiedore are questionable at times, compared to our jap rivals. I had a Subaru that never had the trivial build probs i get with my falcon.

Doubt it. They've barely got enough torque to push themselves up hill, let alone power a tractor...
